Our 3 Favorite Edo Period Anime

by:+Staff

Samurai Champloo: The follow-up to Shinichiro Watanabe's sci-fi masterpiece Cowboy Bebop had some pretty high expectations to live up to, especially since the show was so stylistically different from its predecessor. Luckily for the anime watching world, Samurai Champloo is one of the most fun, badass and truly hip-hop period pieces we've ever seen. Set in the Edo period, the story follows two samurai and a young girl (with a pocket-dwelling squirrel) as they battle across the land in search of a mysterious warrior who smells of sunflowers. Combine truly iconic characters, amazing fight scenes and anime's best soundtrack and you wind up with Edo era excellence.
