Snyder and Timm to Unveil Superman Anniversary Short

Man of Steel director Zack Snyder and highly regarded Warner Bros. toon veteran Bruce Timm (Superman: The Animated Series) are working on an animated short film in honor of Superman’s 75-year history. According to The Hollywood Reporter, details are being kept under wraps, but sources says Snyder envisions the short as “one continuous shot, without edits, that’s an homage to the Man of Steel and his many iterations over the past 75 years” all the way through this summer’s feature.

The BBC Defends 'Doctor Who'

A new "academic" study Doctor Who and Race, which includes essays from "publish or perish" types from around the globe, claims that the venerable BBC science fiction series is "thunderously racist." Among the evidence brought forth in this collection of academic essays that is due to be published in July is an "inappropriately slapstick" take on Hitler in a 2011 episode, the failure to cast an Asian or a black actor in the series’ lead role, and the use of white actors in non-white roles in some vintage Whovian sagas such as "The Talons of Weng-Chiang" from 1977.

Normally when a game has been out for as long as 2000's Final Fantasy IX has the only new content being discovered is through crafty PC modders tinkering around with the source code or a debug mode in a manner we can only hope is similar to TRON. However, one intrepid gamer - YouTube's GarlandTheGreat - discovered a new side quest that not only remained undiscovered for thirteen years, but didn't even make it into the official Western strategy guide (which if any of you remember was not that great to begin with).

Show business seems to thrive on marking anniversaries for marketing purposes––25th or 50th or 75th Anniversary DVD releases of something, for example––but here’s one that is not on most radar screens: 2013 is the sixtieth anniversary of the first time Hollywood studios tried to foist 3-D films on the public. Back then it involved those strange blue-and-red-lensed glasses processing two simultaneously images projected. Today the technology has been improved (if not the subsequent headaches) and the trend has continued for more than a year, though some industry watchers seeing signs that it may have crested.
