The first trailer for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness has been released, and it provides a sense of foreboding for the story and anticipation for the movie. Nine minutes from the film will be seen in 3D IMAX theaters with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (see "'Star Trek' Sequel IMAX 3D Preview"). Star Trek Into Darkness will premiere May 17, 2013.

Some things stay with you for a lifetime. When I was a kid I read a Yogi Bear comic strip in the newspaper in which Ranger Smith punks Yogi by filling his enormous Christmas stocking with an enormous artificial foot. It sounds like a simple, obvious gag, but the memory of it has stayed with me forever because I could not stop laughing at Yogi’s I’m-about-to-be-sick expression as he pulled out the foot. The Hanna-Barbera strips were the province of the late Gene Hazelton, who served as art director for them (though Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera received the byline for work done by Gene, Harvey Eisenberg and Iwao Takamoto, among others).

McFarlane Toys’ The Walking Dead RV Zombie Action Figure is the #5 "Worst Toy for Christmas," according to the Christian Science Monitor. The newspaper’s concern appears to be the age-appropriateness of the figure. Noting that one retailer lists the figure as for ages five and up and that the package indicates it’s for ages 13 and up, the paper says, "The 'neck snapping action,' the zombie-fied body, and the knife in the head make this a perfect stocking stuffer-for an adult male."
