This Week's Trending Story: Dave Sim Brings Cerebus into the Digital Age

In November, Diamond Digital, the digital comics program of Diamond Comic Distributors, began releasing all 25 chapters of Cerebus: High Society, the second volume of Dave Sim’s (and artist Gerhard’s) groundbreaking self-published graphic novel series, on a weekly basis that will continue through March 2013. This is the latest of several publishing moves around Sim and the Cerebus series and includes a successful Kickstarter campaign; a deal with IDW to release a new print edition of High Society, as well as an offer from Fantagraphics Books to bring the series back into print. These are the latest in a series of recent developments aimed at bringing Sim’s 6,000-page saga into the digital age, where it may find new life after years of diminishing sales in print. Along with it may come a renewed interest in the series from a new generation of readers likely to be unfamiliar with the work and its significance, or have perhaps found it unapproachable because of the series’ formidable size. DC Dumps the Pulps
ICv2

The First Wave line, which debuted in 2010 and lasted for about a year included DC characters such as Batman, Black Canary, Rima the Jungle Girl, and The Blackhawks along with such non-DC pulp luminaries as Doc Savage, The Avenger, and The Spirit.

Animation Magazine

By: Ramin Zahed
Dec,14,2012
Japan’s much-esteemed Studio Ghibli has announced plans to release two movies in the summer of 2013. Kaze Tachinu and Kaguya-Hime no Monogatari are the new features by studio founders Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro) and Isao Takahata (My Neighbors the Yamadas). This will be the first time Ghibli has offered a double bill since 1988 when both My Neighbor Totoro and Grave of the Fireflies were released in Japan. Based on the Kaze Tachinu manga, Miyazaki’s feature is inspired by the life and times of historic World War II Zero fighter designer Jirō Horikoshi. Ghibli regular Joe Hisaishi will score the traditionally animated movie.
