by+Ramin Zahed

Disney and Marvel are working with Toei Animation on a new Avengers series for Japanese audiences. Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers will be the first original Marvel animated series created specifically for Japanese viewers, says The Hollywood Reporter. The toon is slated to premiere in Japan in the spring of 2014.
The new series will center on new teen characters who join forces with Thor, Iron Man, Hulk and Captain America, and Spider-Man to foil world-domination plans by none other than Loki. Some of the other superheroes are trapped inside a new technology originally developed as portable security devices for capturing and securing villains around the world.

'Doctor Who: 50 Years' Trailer

The BBC has released a one minute trailer celebrating the past 50 years of Doctor Who, leading up to the highly anticipated "The Day of the Doctor" episode, which will air simultaneously worldwide on November 23rd (see "Global Simulcast for Doctor Who").
Though if features no footage from the upcoming episode, it does show glimpses of all 11 Doctors, before settling on Matt Smith’s Eleventh Time Lord, who narrates the trailer. There are also shots of some of the companions (Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith, Jenna Coleman as Clara, Billie Piper as Rose Tyler) as well as classic villains (Daleks, Cybermen, Oods) and about two dozen ‘Easter Egg’ iconic items that hard core fans have identified via freeze framing the trailer and posting to the net.

The Saturday morning kidvid devotees of the 1960s (which included me) loved the cool shows Lou produced through his company Filmation, such as The New Adventures of Superman and The Archie Show (okay, maybe Sabrina and the Groovie Ghoulies was actually cooler, but Archie’s chart-topping songs were good). The next generation loved the likes of Star Trek, Tarzan and Shazam, and the one that followed grooved to He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Animation artists loved Lou because he took care of them, uniquely refusing to ship their jobs overseas. And since the demise of Filmation in 1989, cartoon fans and historians loved Lou as a walking history of the industry.
