PSA: Have You Read The Dark Knight Returns?

There's a reason why Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns is on so many top-10 lists. Miller has a firm grasp on the character and sets up a killer story set in a dystopian near-future where all the superheroes have hung up their capes (save for Superman).

After years of being away, Bruce Wayne suits up again. He's not as spry as he used to be, but he's still Batman. He still stands for something. The media plays a large role in the story, with the narrative broken up by pundits debating Batman's return and his place in society. Familiar villains and heroes also appear in the story, and it's a treat each time one pops up on the page.

There are two camps: those who haven't read it and have loved it, and those who haven't read it. It's that good. If you're one of those unfortunate souls who hasn't read this book, mark it off your to-do list today. Borrow a copy from a friend or check it out from your local library.
