This weekend sees the release of the hotly-anticipated robots vs. monsters film, Pacific Rim (perhaps you’ve heard of it). In it, humans pilot giant mechanical creations (or “mecha” in some circles) to defeat city-dwarfing monsters from beneath the sea. You can catch up on all the Pacific Rim goings-on here, see the list of the best Kaiju here, and read up on our Best of E3 coverage, which named Titanfall best in show. All this chat made us think about our favorite mechs in popular culture, and how much we want one of our own.

Digital Manga to Release Complete Tezuka Works

Great news for fans of classic Japanese comics, otherwise known as manga: California based e-publisher Digital Manga Inc. has nabbed the rights to the entire back catalog of the legendary Osamu Tezuka’s work to be made available digitally in the U.S. Yes, including Astro Boy. The deal with Tezuka Productions, confirmed by Anime News Network, will include select printed titles funded through Kickstarter campaigns.

The Origin of Khan In 'Star Trek: Khan'

IDW Publishing will launch Star Trek: Khan, a new six-issue miniseries that will reveal the origin of Khan, in October. The origin story will occur during the Eugenics wars, when Khan leaves Earth aboard the Botany Bay to be awakened by Admiral Marcus in the future.
Star Trek: Khan will be overseen by Star Trek Into Darkness screenwriter Roberto Orci, written by Mike Johnson with art by Claudia Balboni.
