By:ICv2 Staff

Aided by a slew of variants, Marvel’s Uncanny Avengers #1 posted the biggest circulation number since the record-setting performance of The Walking Dead # 100 in July. According to ICv2’s calculation the new Marvel NOW title topped the October charts with 303,722 copies shipped to direct market retailers. This massive sell-in was powered by an impressive array of 20 variant covers (including some designs that are exclusive to comic shops). Marvel showed some real ingenuity in coming up with the Uncanny Avengers #1 variants, which range from a “Blank Cover Variant” to a “Skottie Young Baby Cover Variant,” a “Deadpool Call Me Maybe Variant,” as well as “Avenger” and “Uncanny Variants,” plus art-centric variants from Sara Pichelli, Olivier Coipel (sketch & regular), Adi Granov, and John Cassaday.

This Week's Trending Story: A Writer for 'Star Wars Episode 7
ICv2
Nov,9,2012
A screenwriter has already produced a 40- to 50-page treatment for Star Wars Episode 7, the first of the new trilogy that was announced in connection with the Disney acquisition of Lucasfilm (see "Disney Acquires Lucasfilm!"), according to Vulture. The treatment is going to be pitched to top directors including Brad Bird (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol), Steven Spielberg, and J.J. Abrams. The studio hopes to get the three central stars from the first film to play the characters much older: Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill. The Vulture story is based on information from "informed sources," with no direct comment from any of the people involved, so should probably be taken with a grain of salt until confirmed, although Vulture is usually reliable.
