'Powerpuff Girls Special' Trailer Show Airs in January

A first look at The Powerpuff Girls Special: Dance Pantsed has been released, in advance of the first airing on Cartoon Network on January 20 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The special features an original song, "I Wish I Was a Powerpuff Girl," by Ringo Starr, who also voices a role in the show (see "Cartoon Network Specials").
The premiere of the new special will be preceded by a marathon of ten classic episodes on Sunday, January 19, beginning at 12 ET.
Powerpuff Girls merch is starting to flow again; an IDW Publishing comic series debuted in September at #50 on the Top Comics chart for the month (see "Top 300 Comics Actual--September 2013").

Paul Rudd, Vin Diesel Confirmed for Marvel Pics

It’s now official: Actor Paul Rudd is set to play Ant-Man in the upcoming Disney/Marvel feature, set for July 31, 2015. Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige said on Marvel.com last week, “When [director] Edgar Wright came to us with the idea of Paul Rudd, we felt a huge sense of relief because the first step in creating any Marvel Studios film is finding the right star. We knew early on that we had found the right person in Paul. When he not only agreed to do it but became as enthusiastic as any actor we’d ever met with about doing the work, we knew we’d found the right guy. We couldn’t be more excited for our audiences to see what he’s going to do to bring Ant-Man to life.”

The live-action film version of the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon Jonny Quest is getting a rewrite, according to a recent interview with Peter Segal, who is attached to direct. "I would love to make that my next movie," Segal told ComingSoon.net. “We just hired a writer to do another pass. We already have a very good script. Then we go through budgeting hell and trying to get it into shape.”

'X-Men' Movie News Paquin Out, 'Apocalypse' Plans

Director Bryan Singer has been busily revealing information about BOTH of the next two X-Men movies. The only scene featuring Anna Paquin as Rogue in X-Men: Days of Future Past did not make the final cut of the movie and will probably only be seen as a DVD extra, Singer told EW. Paquin had been added to Days of Future Past as one of the X:Men: The Last Stand cast members brought in to tie the mythology together (see "Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, & Shawn Ashmore Return to the X-Fold"). X-Men: Days of Future Past is due out May 23, 2014.
