RightStuf Press Releases For May

RIGHT STUF, INC. Announces Exclusive Deal With Creator M. Alice LeGrow & TOKYOPOP to Publish BIZENGHAST, Vol. 8 RightStuf.com to publish series’ latest volume for first time ever in July 2012; pre-orders receive an exclusive art card.

GRIMES, Iowa, May 22, 2012 – Right Stuf, Inc. is pleased to announce that, through a special arrangement with creator M. Alice LeGrow and TOKYOPOP, fans will be able to purchase the eighth volume of BIZENGHAST in book form for the first time ever, exclusively through RightStuf.com.

The initial print run of Bizenghast, Vol. 8 will be available in late July 2012. Fans who pre-order Vol. 8 will also receive an exclusive postcard featuring art from the series. For a limited time, fans can pre-order Bizenghast, Vol. 8 for $10.99 per copy. (This is a savings of more than 30% off the $15.99 SRP.) Shawne Kleckner, Right Stuf’s president and CEO, said, “We know fans of Bizenghast have been waiting a long time for new material, and I'm glad we can make this happen for them!”

“I'm glad to have this opportunity to finally deliver the next volume of Bizenghast! Readers have been waiting for over a year to see the end of this first story-arc, which is a real testament to their patience. Anyone who has been waiting a year and a half to hear from me again is either a true fan or my dentist,” said the series’ creator, M. Alice LeGrow.

TOKYOPOP founder Stu Levy added, “I am truly thrilled to be able to facilitate publication of the latest and greatest Bizenghast volume through such a dedicated partner as RightStuf. Bizenghast has become a true OEL franchise, proving that manga is not about ethnicity or nationality but engaging visual storytelling with compelling characters. Many thanks to the fans and Ms. LeGrow for their patience and continued support!”

Bizenghast was developed and successfully pitched to TOKYOPOP, after LeGrow placed in the publisher’s Rising Stars of Manga contest with her short story “Nikolai.” Propelled by the support of fans who love the dark fantasy’s gothic-style art and themes, Bizenghast has grown into a multi-media work that spans seven (and soon eight) graphic novels, in addition to inspiring a limited-edition art book, a coloring book, a novelization, animated shorts, a tabletop roleplaying game, and a line of merchandise. LeGrow is currently at work on her next graphic novel, The Elephant Book. Fans can find out more about the comic and its successful Kickstarter project at www.bizenghast.com.
