Oppan Saiyan Style! - And you thought planking was cool (you did? Seriously?). Leave it to Japanese schoolchildren to combine their mastery of social media with their love of all things Dragon Ball Z, and you've got the latest meme to sweep the Land of the Rising Sun, “Makanosappo”. Schoolchildren pose as if they just let out a powerful blast of Goku-level proportions, and their friends respond accordingly. Despite our best efforts, we've yet to recreate these photos, either due to Western trepidation, our power level being decidedly under 9,000 or the fact that it'd be weird to photograph schoolchildren.

Hulu Plus to Premiere Animated ‘Awesomes’ in August

Seth Meyers and Michael Shoemaker’s new animated series The Awesomes will premiere on August 1st on Hulu. Entertainment Weekly reports that the that the 10-episode series will revolved around the greatest superhero team in history and explores what happens after the most powerful members of the team decide to leave. Those remaining are led by Professor Doctor Awesome (a.k.a. Prock), voiced by Meyers, who’s attempting to fill his father’s shoes.

Abrams Adapts Butler's 'Kindred'

Abrams ComicArts has acquired the rights to develop and adapt Octavia E. Butler's award-winning science fiction novel Kindred as a graphic novel. Currently, it is slated for publication in Fall 2014.
Originally published in 1979, Kindred is the story of a young African American woman who is transported from modern day California back into the Antebellum South. Winner of the 2012 World Book Night selection, Kindred has sold over half a million copies and has become a mainstay in high school and college curricula for its discussion of race and gender.

An enigmatic Disney short titled Mickey Mouse in ‘Get a Horse’ will have its world premiere at the Annecy Animation Festival on June 11. This never-before-seen, black-and-white, hand-drawn short features Walt Disney as the voice of the iconic mouse. The plot finds Mickey, his cheerful gal pal Minnie Mouse and their pals Horace Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow enjoying a pastoral musical wagon ride—until Peg-Leg Pete shows up and tries to run them off the road!
