‘Tron: Uprising’s’ Bean to Direct ‘Ninjago’ Movie

Tron: Uprising director Charlie Bean is moving up to the big screen, having been hired to direct Warner Bros.’ toy adaptation feature film Ninjago. Based on the popular Lego toy line, Ninjago has already been adapted for TV as the series Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu. The story follows ninjas and samurais who fight the evil Lord Gagmadon and his armies of snake men and dragons.

New Extended Trailer for 'Thor: The Dark Age'

Disney has released a new extended trailer for Alan Taylor’s Thor: The Dark World, which opens nationwide of November 8th. The new trailer, which runs nearly 3 minutes does contain some new footage plus shots of the off-world kingdoms where much of the film’s action will take place, and it also makes clear that Thor must seek out his brother Loki, who functioned as the villain in the first Thor film (and The Avengers), in order to combat the new threat at the heart of Thor: The Dark World.

Star Wars' Origins Films Between New Trilogy

The stand-alone Star Wars features will be "origin story" films, according to Disney CFO Jay Rasulo during the company’s conference call last week, as reported by Hollywood Reporter. Although it’s been known for a while that beginning with the first film in the new Star Wars trilogy in 2015, there will be Star Wars films every summer, with stand-alone films in between the trilogy films (see "'Star Wars' Movies Every Summer"), it wasn’t known that those films will tell characters’ origin stories.
